It looks
like Xtranormal really is shutting down soon. They've had major, unfixed
technical problems for months, they've abruptly stopped selling points,
and I hear that a number of essential employees have suddenly departed
the company. I don't want to go into more detail because I don't know
how much of this stuff they want to keep private, but it really looks
like the end is nigh.
If you have anything you want to do using
Xtranormal, I would strongly suggest doing it immediately. It really
saddens me to say it, but I would be surprised if Xtranormal is still
around by the end of July.
What that means for this
series is that I'm going to be forced to wrap things up faster
than I expected. I already felt like the series was nearing the end, but being forced to
quit so suddenly really sucks. It's possible I'll do a penultimate
episode to clear some things up before I post the final one, but right
now I think it's more likely I'll just post that last episode and be
done with the whole thing.
I will always be grateful to the
people who created Xtranormal and kept it running. I know I'm not the
only person who will really miss the program. Here's hoping that somebody
somewhere is working on an animation program that's even half that good.

The end of the beginning of the end

The beginning of the end of the beginning
Tonight I completed the last episode of Ursula Hitler's Head.
No, I'm not actually ending the series, not quite yet. But Xtranormal has been having huge technical problems for a couple of months, and the problems have gotten so bad and they've been unfixed for so long that I think it's only a matter of time before the site shuts down for good. I couldn't let this series end without a proper resolution, so I went ahead and made the last episode now so I'll have it ready to post, if and when Xtranormal goes away.
Sometimes when a TV series is filming its final episode, the very last scene of the series is not the last thing they film. Sometimes they film the last scene, and then they've still got days of other stuff to shoot. They've defeated the bad guy, said their tearful farewells, switched off the lights... but then everybody's got to come back the next day and film all the stuff leading up to the ending. They have to put their wigs back on, and be those characters that they buried yesterday.
I always wondered how that felt. Well, now I guess I sort of know.
It makes you feel like you've gone back in time, or you've had some kind of premonition. You've seen the future, in perfect clarity. You know who makes it to a happy ending, and who doesn't. You know that everything happening now is all just leading inevitably to the ending you've already seen.
I must admit, part of me is tempted to just post the final episode now. My page views are in the shitter, my personal life is in a shambles and I'm restless and frustrated, on the brink of some kind of huge change.
As much as I've enjoyed making this series, as much as I love these characters, there's no denying that it's time to stop. I mean, a lot of this site's traffic is literally confused Russians coming from some very weird spam sites. They're here for 15 seconds and then that's it, they're gone forever.
Whatever goofy dreams I had about this show becoming successful simply have not come true.
There are dozens of very good reasons to stop, and the only reason I keep going is because... well, because I just can't seem to stop. Not yet. At this point, this series feels more like a symptom than a cure. I should stop. I really should. But I'm not stopping.
I have seen the end, and I have said my tearful farewells, and I have buried the bodies. Someday, and probably someday fairly soon, I will post that final episode.
But not today.

The Fetish Islands: The Final Chapter! - Ursula Hitler's Head ep. 113
The Fetish Islands story concludes, with an episode that marks a transition of sorts for this series. As much as I enjoy doing these longer stories and updating every week, I just can't justify the time and effort anymore. My audience isn't growing, and actually seems to have dwindled quite a bit the last few months. Apparently a lot of Youtubers have experienced a drop in views recently, so maybe my shrinking audience is a part of that general decline... Or maybe people just weren't interested in my serial stories. I honestly don't know.
Whatever's going on, it feels silly to keep regularly cranking out these long serials for an audience in the low hundreds. I'm extremely grateful to the handful of fans I do have, but I just can't keep doing this.
Almost all of the ideas I have for this series are serials, and I do plan to do some more of them in the future. But a lot of people seem to prefer the stand-alone episodes, so I'm going to try to focus more on those for a while. I don't know how regularly I'll be updating... Right now I don't have any stand-alone ideas, but hopefully I'll think of some soon.
This definitely isn't the end of the series, and I hope you'll stick around for what's to come... And please, if you like this series, do what you can to get the word out. Tell your friends, post on forums, accost strangers in the street! And as always, don't forget to follow this series at www.UrsulaHitler.com.

Steady, Freddy!
My Lightning Squared video got a lovely plug on the thoroughly ass-kickin' blog Freddy in Space. Johnny, who runs the blog, is a very busy fellow, with at least two other blogs and a Facebook page all featuring more creepy-crawly monstery goodness than we deserve.
As a token of thanks, we present this classic Electric Company cartoon about another Freddy who was a freak for Frankenstein.
In my ceaseless efforts to pimp my video, I've been telling people that it's half Rocky Horror, half Terry Gilliam cut-out cartoon, and half Groovy Goolies, but I didn't quite have my math right... It's also half Steady Freddy.

Abracadby!
Abby Travis has approached me about collaborating. Abby is a fabulously glamorous rock star who sings like a drunken angel and looks like a million goddamn bucks in a showgirl costume. For about a decade she's been one of my major heroes/crush objects (when you're a tranny, these things get complicated) and just getting an email from her at all got me all goofy. That she's actually interested in possibly collaborating with me is just a little too awesome, it's like one of those super cool things that happens in a dream and then you wake up and realize that you're late for work and today you gotta degrease the fryer or some shit.
It could all come to nothing. I mean, maybe she'll change her mind, or maybe we won't come up with any good ideas, or she could get creeped out by my excessive fangirl fawning, or whatever. But I feel like I just got a birthday card from Elvis or something, and if this is far as it goes, I'm cool with it.
I never, ever squee. I'm just not the type. But: Squee!
